Why verified transmission is an engineering problem, not a paperwork problem.
The question is not new. Long before transcripts and certifications, Zen Buddhism transmitted its teaching only through a sanctioned lineage — a master personally vouching for a student, generation after generation. Half a world away, with no shared alphabet and no way to compare notes, rabbinic semikhah solved the same problem the same way: an unbroken, named chain of authorized transmission.
We call that convergence the chain and the checksum. When knowledge does not carry proof of its own transmission, every serious tradition eventually engineers one.
That convergence is not a historical curiosity. As AI-generated content and synthetic data saturate every information channel, the ability to verify what is real becomes the scarce and valuable thing again. GRID42 builds that verification layer for domains that cannot afford to get it wrong.
